This Is My Song
This Is My Song was a two-part BBC1 television show aired at 8pm Thursday nights.
The documentary series saw members of the public record a memorable song, with famous producers, to create a “soundtrack of their lives” for a loved one.
Andrew’s involvement was as a featured producer, talking to camera. Having been given the brief by the tv producers, Andrew had to create the arrangement, song style and genre that would best suit each participant and then work closely with them and a hand picked team, to record and mix each record.
Featured Producers: Andrew Hunt, Sister Bliss (Faithless) & Naughty Boy.
In episode 1, Andrew works with Jordan and grandad, Ronnie. They record & perform Stand By Me, which has a special meaning for them both. He also gets to meet 13-year-old Jasmine, who has chronic anxiety – that is, until she starts to sing!
Meanwhile, Sister Bliss works with father-and-son team Shane and Matt, the latter who says he felt “trapped in a cage” because of his stammer.
Whilst Naughty Boy gets behind the desk for three sisters who want to ‘give back the gift of music’ to their father, who made music such an important part of their childhood.
The series was narrated by presenter and DJ Sara Cox.
In episode 2, we see Andrew make Bethany’s dreams come true when he recovers lost recordings of her late father, allowing her to record a duet with him for her wedding day. Then he gets to work with Angie, recording a Motown classic, with a Trinidadian flavour.
23 year old Charles is hoping to find his voice again, after a life-changing ‘double lung transplant.’ Thankfully Sister Bliss is by his side to help him hit the high notes.
And Naught Boy reunites Merseybeat band, Earl Preston & The TT’s, taking them on a trip down memory lane, recording them together again for the first time since 1963.
